Trek 3 – Baia della Pelara and Monte di Panza in Forio

The hidden cove of Pelara is set between the bays of Scannella and Sorgeto, in the village of Panza, on the south-west side of the island. The walk allows to enjoy a peaceful contryside scenery across a narrow valley to finally reach the bay with its clear sea water. Monte di Panza is the promontory next to the bay of Pelara, an easy walk with stunning view to Sorgeto bay, Sant’Angelo and Mount Epomeo.

We start the trek from the village of Panza (bus stop Panza center) and we walk for about 30 minutes to reach the path to the bay. After walking through a wood, the bay opens up in front of our eyes in all its beauty. We walk down towards the sea along a narrow path of steps, surrounded by green hills, cactus trees, volcanic rocks and the blue sea. After reaching the far end of the bay we walk back up to the starting point and visit the nearby hill of Monte di Panza from where we can enjoy the view to the village of Sant’Angelo. The walk ends back to the village of Panza.

Duration 2 hours – Easy  difficulty

It is advisable to bring water and snacks as there are no refreshments points along the trek
